WorkWell’s Board of Directors is composed of business leaders from diverse backgrounds and experiences who share a common vision: there is a better way to manage workers compensation “behind the factory walls” that will yield quality outcomes and provide a competitive advantage for employers.
 
 
 

Hal Burlingame

Hal Burlingame is the Executive Vice President responsible for Human Resources and Communications as well as Merger and Acquisition Integration work for the AT&T Wireless Group. Prior to his current position, Mr. Burlingame headed the entire AT&T Human Resources organization from 1987-1999, and handled Merger and Joint Venture Integration.

Earlier, he was in charge of corporate-wide Public Relations for AT&T. Mr. Burlingame serves as a director of the Work in America Institute and is Chairman of the Personnel Round Table and the National Academy of Human Resources. He is a board member of the UniSource Energy Corporation and serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies of Cornell University and the Tallberg Foundation. He also serves on the Cowdrick Group and the New Jersey Job Training Coordinating Council and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Muskingum College and Talent Alliance. Mr. Burlingame received his bachelor's degree in Speech and English from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. He graduated from Indiana University's Business School Executive program and the Bell Advanced Management Program at the University of Illinois.

 

Jerre L. Stead

Jerre Stead serves as Chairman of the Board of WorkWell Systems, Inc. In 2000, he retired from Ingram Micro where he was Chairman & CEO. During his tenure at Ingram Micro, he grew annual revenues from $8 billion to over $30 billion. Prior to that, he was CEO of Legent, a $500 million software company which was acquired by Computer Associates for $1.8 billion. Earlier, he spent 5 years at AT&T as the of the Global Business Communications Systems Division and later as Chairman and CEO of AT&T Global Information Solutions (NCR Corporation). He was also a member of AT&T’s Management Executive Committee and Global Operations Team. Earlier, Mr. Stead was CEO of $1.7 billion Square D, a leading manufacturer of electrical distribution and factory automation products, until its acquisition by Paris-based Schneider Electric. He began his career at Honeywell, rising from the plant floor to become the youngest group vice president in Honeywell's history. Mr. Stead is a board member of Conexant (Nasdaq: CNXT), Brightpoint, Inc (Nasdaq: CELL), Armstrong World Industries (NYSE: ACK) and TBG Group. In 1999, he also served as president of the Electronic Manufacturers Club, an organization of 161 CEOs of global telecom, electric and electronic manufacturing companies, and is the chairman of the board for the Center of Ethics and Values at Garrett Seminary at Northwestern University. Mr. Stead is a graduate of the University of Iowa where he earned a bachelor's in business administration. He is also a graduate of the Harvard University Advanced Management Program.

 

George Carpenter

George Carpenter is an innovative business executive with a proven track record of creating, growing and leading high growth and turnaround companies. In 1998, he was named as a finalist in the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition for taking his company from start-up to a market leader in healthcare management services. Prior to joining WorkWell Systems, Carpenter served as the Chairman and CEO of CORE, Inc., the result of a management buyout of the HDI division of Baxter Healthcare. CORE pioneered the application of healthcare management tools to workforce analytics, establishing a record for clinical software innovation and talent development that, in the words of one analyst, "created an industry". During the 1990’s CORE was named one of the 100 fastest growing companies by Inc. Magazine, and one of the top public companies in Orange County by the Los Angeles Times. CORE was acquired in July, 2001 by Fortis Insurance Inc. Prior to leading CORE, Mr. Carpenter was a Vice President of Operations with Baxter Healthcare. He also served as Director of Business Development and as strategic planner for Baxter’s alternate site businesses. Mr. Carpenter began his career at Inland Steel where he served as Senior Systems Consultant in manufacturing process control. Carpenter holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and a BA with distinction in International Policy & Law from Dartmouth College.

 

Gregory Hawkins

Gregory Hawkins joined the Board of Directors at Workwell Systems in April 2001. Prior to this, Mr. Hawkins served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of buy.com, where he helped take the internet retailer public in February 2000. Previous experiences include eight years in senior management positions with Ingram Micro, Inc, as Senior Vice President, Global Sales, where he was responsible for overseeing the company's sales and customer program management operations. Mr. Hawkins' began his career with J. C. Penney, and also worked for GTE and Mitel Corporation. Mr. Hawkins received his BS in Business Administration from Oregon State University.

 

David Ryan

Dave Ryan has been a founding Mission Ventures Managing Partner since 1996. He has 20 years of venture capital experience focusing on early-stage information technology and service companies. Prior to Mission Ventures, beginning in 1983, he served as General Partner of Copley Venture Partners, a Boston-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage investing in information technology, business services and healthcare. Prior to Copley, Dave held positions in strategic planning, business development and plant modernization with Medusa Corp, a Midwest-based manufacturer of industrial materials. Dave holds a Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. He is currently a Director of 3E Company, BMS Reimbursement Management, dock3 and WorkWell Systems.
