Facing the Crisis
There is a growing labor shortage that is threatening American businesses’ ability to compete. There simply aren’t enough new workers to fill the jobs that Baby Boomers will retire from. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, up to 21% of all skilled jobs will go unfilled in 2010. Then-- factor in medical and disability absences that siphon away 8-14% of productive capacity, offshore labor options that continue to grow more attractive and weak employee retention results -- and crisis accurately describes today’s labor landscape.
Hiring the right workers and keeping them at work becomes a business imperative.
